Celtics Defeat Mavericks 107-89 in Game 1 of NBA Finals

Jayson Tatum's Triple-Double Powers Boston

Mavericks Fall Despite Porzingis' Return

The Boston Celtics extended their dominance in the 2024 NBA Finals with a resounding 107-89 victory over the Dallas Mavericks in Game 1. The Celtics, led by Jayson Tatum's historic performance, took an early lead and never looked back, seizing control of the series.

Tatum, the league's reigning MVP, erupted for a triple-double with 29 points, 10 assists, and a season-high 14 rebounds. It marked his first triple-double of the season and solidified his status as one of the league's most electrifying all-around players.

The Mavericks, who welcomed back Kristaps Porzingis from a calf injury, struggled to keep pace with the Celtics' offensive onslaught. Porzingis led the Dallas scoring with 20 points, including 18 in the first half, but his efforts were not enough to contain the Celtics' balanced attack.

The Celtics shot 48.6% from the field and 35.7% from beyond the arc, while the Mavericks struggled to find their rhythm, shooting only 37.8% and 28.6% from three-point range, respectively.

The Celtics' victory puts them in a commanding position in the best-of-seven series. They will look to extend their lead in Game 2 on Wednesday, while the Mavericks will seek to regroup and find a way to neutralize Tatum's unmatched brilliance.
