A G4-Level Solar Storm Is Expected to Supercharge the Northern Lights on Friday
An unusually strong solar storm hitting the Earth has caused a stunning aurora to be seen in the Atlanta area around 10:30 PM. The storm is expected to supercharge the northern lights on Friday, with forecasts predicting one of the strongest displays in years.
The last G4 level solar storm hit Earth in March one of only three storms of that severity observed since 1990. The solar flare was captured by NASA's Solar Dynamics Observatory on Thursday.
